Christine Hagen is the founder and designer behind The Patchwork Project, a Brooklyn-based studio creating giftable artwork inspired by New York's abundant art, architecture, and energy. Drawing from time spent in New York City, the Catskills, and the Hudson Valley, she creates original paintings, prints, linocuts, magnets, buttons and notebooks, as well as custom commissioned portraits of clients' homes. Everything is designed in Brooklyn, with each piece either lovingly handmade or sustainably printed in the USA. Christine's work draws from a never-ending abundance of inspiration in her surroundings and comes from a place of whimsical fun, offering thoughtfully-designed keepsakes for locals and visitors alike. She also teaches creative classes throughout Brooklyn and the surrounding areas, encouraging others to discover—or rediscover—their own creative side through hands-on making.

Originally from Kansas City, MO, Christine came to New York in 2001 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and went on to build a 25+ year career as a textile designer and creative leader. She has developed countless home-centric products for leading retailers and brands including West Elm, Target, Pottery Barn, RH, Crate & Barrel, Anthropologie, Gap, Brooklinen, RL, Calvin Klein, Pierce & Ward, Magnolia Home, and Martha Stewart. She has traveled the world for creative inspiration, trade shows, client meetings, and mill visits. An expert in print and pattern creation, Christine brings a deep understanding of color, composition, trend, and product development to her work. The Patchwork Project brings that experience together with her love of making art that celebrates New York and the places she loves.
